PARSIPPANY, NJ – February 4, 2008. CherryRoad Group Inc., a full-service systems integrator, today announced that its government division, CherryRoad GT Inc., has been awarded a subcontract by Northrop Grumman Corporation to provide managed IT services in support of the Defense Knowledge Online (DKO) program. CherryRoad GT provides managed IT services under the brand name Relia-Serve(sm) Infrastructure Solutions, the company’s flagship service offering for the Department of Defense (DoD), Federal agencies, and other large institutions.
DKO, a DoD program managed by the Program Executive Office, Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS) of the U.S. Army, is a knowledge based portal that includes collaboration and messaging services for the Department of Defense, branches of the military, and potentially all Federal government agencies, thereby creating the largest system of its kind with up to 8 million projected users. Under the terms of the managed services award, CherryRoad GT will be responsible for specific mission critical IT assets to be used for DKO, and maintain all of the DKO legacy equipment, software and services on behalf of Northrop Grumman.
From 1998 to 2007, CherryRoad GT acted as prime contractor for the Army Knowledge Online (AKO) program, chosen by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) as the model for DKO. DISA selected AKO as the “best of breed” portal within the DoD. In 2002, CherryRoad GT collaborated with Northrop Grumman for AKO disaster recovery architecture and support services. CherryRoad GT has also teamed with Appian for DKO portal and BPM software integration and maintenance, the second such collaboration between the two firms. On October 1, 2007 efforts began to facilitate DKO becoming the entry point for personnel in the DoD community. As such, DKO users can access DoD-wide content, capabilities, services and data.
"We are delighted to have been chosen by Northrop Grumman for this important next step in the DKO program, and we look forward to many more opportunities to collaborate in the future. It continues to be a privilege to be a member of the Northrop Grumman IT team, undertaking the largest DoD enterprise portal implementation conducted to date," said Tom Ferrando, president and chief operating officer of CherryRoad Group. "It also signifies the high level of trust and confidence that the government and large IT organizations place in CherryRoad GT and our Relia-Serve family of managed infrastructure solutions" he added.
Relia-Serve(sm) Infrastructure Solutions and Relia-Serve Portal Solutions are unique and innovative services developed by, and proprietary to CherryRoad GT. Organizations like the U.S. Army, DISA, and the Department of Justice have selected Relia-Serve solutions to secure, manage and maintain their mission critical and mission essential IT outsourcing operations. CherryRoad GT services include: portal design and integration; data center collocation and management; managed hosting; disaster recovery, operational continuity; high availability; performance monitoring; incident response; help desk; and asset management.
When complete, DKO may serve up to 8 million active, retired, reserve, civilian, contractor, and National Guard service members from all military branches, as well as the family members of deployed military personnel. It will provide collaboration services, applications, and messaging services such as email, chat, instant messaging, search tools, and enterprise directory services.
