Network Management

CherryRoad GT is highly adept at systems/network operations and management. We’ve designed, implemented, operated, and maintained networks ranging from very basic systems to complex, enterprise-redundant, high-availability solutions. This experience goes beyond installing hardware and implementing software, including upgrades and patches. We also provide troubleshooting services to resolve hardware, software, and email problems as well as LAN/WAN issues related to infrastructure. In fact, we’ll help you assess the network infrastructure to determine its efficiency, responsiveness, and security and then implement automated tools for performance monitoring and incident/problem notification. And, we’ll help you maintain the communications infrastructure to efficiently and effectively support network traffic.

For example, CherryRoad GT helped build and now supports Army Knowledge On-Line (AKO), the U.S. Army Chief Technology Office’s (CTO) keystone project and one of the largest intranets in the world. Just one of the major AKO areas to which we contributed is the Army Portal, a customized, encrypted gateway to the intranet. It provides quick access to forms and regulations, installations, change-of-station information, Army news, AKO Knowledge Centers, and more. Because AKO enables rapid, anytime/anywhere information sharing and collaboration, the Army is achieving stronger Homeland Defense and real-time feedback from the field as well as faster wartime mobilization and completion of time-sensitive missions. In addition to reducing costs of Temporary Duty (TDY) through online meetings, AKO is also providing a means for reliable communications across the globe through secure email, quicker translation services, and easy access to online-searchable archives. CherryRoad GT is also a vital contributor to the Army Home Page, another component of AKO. The Army Home Page, which can be found at http://www.army.mil, is the public-facing Web presence for publicly available content.

CherryRoad GT provides a wide variety of AKO support to the CTO, including network management services. For example, we:

Operate and maintain the CTO’s internal network as well as monitor and maintain its external networks on a 24x7 basis.
Provide network engineering as well as design and analysis. We also implement, operate, and maintain the CTO’s network architecture.
Design and implement network management processes to verify that all critical systems are operational and accessible.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly tape backups of all system components and prepare for disaster recovery and continuity of operations.
Install, configure, and maintain all CTO hardware and software, and maintain and tune all CTO systems.
Develop and implement a high performance and availability solution for the Army Home Page.
